Terra & Tide was founded to introduce people to the many attractions of Waiheke Island through a range of Waiheke walking tours and Waiheke Island tours showcasing the natural beauty, art, history and heritage of the island. Today we showcase the broader Auckland and Northland regions in our Auckland and Northland tours.
Our dedicated and knowledgeable team is passionate about sharing their local expertise and insights across a variety of specialist interest areas: native flora and fauna, conservation, Māori heritage and culture, art, and regional wine and culinary highlights.
As a regenerative tourism operator, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and nurturing our community and whenua (land). We operate within a certified carbon positive footprint, with a luxury fleet of planet-friendly electric and low-emission Mercedes vans. We support a range of local environmental initiatives, including pest and predator control, tree planting and wetland restoration.
Gabrielle Young
A former chair of Waiheke Island Tourism, Gabrielle also established Giverny Gardens, a permaculture training centre and demonstration garden, and ran training courses in sustainable living on Waiheke for several years.
She is passionate about the outdoors, is an incurable adventurer, traveller and conservationist, and likes nothing more than getting outside and connecting with nature. Even when she’s not sharing her beloved Waiheke Island with guests, you’ll usually find her in a pair of hiking boots:
Gabrielle has walked 400 kilometres of the Te Araroa trail in the South Island of New Zealand, part of Spain’s Camino de Santiago, and on the Amalfi coast. In 2016 she hiked through California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range on the 340-kilometre John Muir trail and last year she spent a month hiking in the Dolomites in Northern Italy and Switzerland.
Gabrielle has consulted for many years in organisation development, HR, and leadership development. She has coached executives and teams to help them attain high performance.
