Although Waiheke is just 35 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland, you’ll feel remote from the city as you connect with yourself, your walking companions, and your friendly and knowledgeable guide. Our guided walks take you along coastal headlands, through regenerating native bush and rainforest, and past vineyards, beaches and artists’ studios, sharing the history, ecology and conservation stories of each place along the way.
Waiheke Island walking tours
Our day walks are perfect for those who want to experience Waiheke Island beyond vineyard bus tours. Walk for a few hours and enjoy a delicious lunch on the Vineyards & Bush Walk, the Bush & Beach Walk or the Double Headland Walk, as part of a small group or privately, or let us design a personalised walk or Waiheke Wander around your group’s interests.
Multi-day walking holidays
Walk the five-day, 100 km Te Ara Hura circuit around Waiheke Island, or choose the four-day Best of Waiheke Walking Tour. Our all-inclusive packages include ferry tickets, 4-star plus accommodation, all meals, daily transfers and additional activities, and are available guided or as a freedom walk. Scheduled multi-day walks run during the year, we will run additional dates on demand, or we can customise for you!
Auckland & Northland walks
Spend a day walking and exploring the rainforests, beaches and villages of the Waitākere Ranges, or fly north with Heletranz Helicopters for a coastal hike around the remote bays of the Tutukaka Coast. Closer to home, the Waiheke Heli Hike pairs a scenic flight over the Hauraki Gulf with a guided walk and lunch.
Choosing the right walk
Each walk lists its distance, duration and difficulty, from gentle strolls suitable for all fitness levels to full-day hikes of up to 14 km. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a daypack, water, sun protection and a raincoat. Prefer to slow right down? Try a forest bathing walk, and read why walk with us and how research shows the benefits of nature walks.
