Biologist Danielle Shanahan is the new Manager of Conservation, Research, Learning and Experience at Zealandia wildlife sanctuary in Wellington.
Dr Shanahan worked on a paper published recently in Nature, which highlighted the health benefits from ‘doses’ of nature. The research suggests that visits of 30 minutes or more to outdoor green spaces during the week can reduce the occurrence of depression and high blood pressure.
She spoke with Catherine Ryan on the Nine to Noon programme on RNZ National. If you have limited time, I suggest you start listening to the interview at the 13:10 point.
